Our Instructor 

Master Sergeant Howard

Master Sergeant Tyneka Howard is the Aerospace Science Instructor (ASI) for Sanderson High School’s (NC-939) Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) program.  She assists in managing the various aspects of the AFJROTC program consisting of over 100 cadets.  Sergeant Howard teaches academic classes in leadership education, physical fitness, and drill.  In addition, her responsibilities include community relations, unit supply, administrative oversight, as well as career and performance counseling. 

  

Sergeant Howard was born in Martinsville, Virginia, and graduated from Magna Vista High School in Ridgeway, Virginia.  She enlisted in the Air Force in 2000.  Her career encompassed a wide range of assignments and deployments in information (knowledge) operations management as well as Intelligence specialties.  She has led Airmen at various levels including squadron, group, Joint levels, and Headquarters Air Force.   

 

Sergeant Howard has deployed multiple times in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, IRAQI FREEDOM, Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa, Operations INHERENT RESOLVE, RESOLUTE SUPPORT, and other military training missions around the globe.  

 

Sergeant Howard retired on September 1, 2020, and resides in Angier, North Carolina.  She has a 15-year-old son Rickie and a Lhaso Apso (fur baby) named Sam.
